Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to be a 'James-Bond' Film in First Act

Just a few days ago, Empire released an article on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. While getting the awesome exclusive image above of the Carnotaurus looking into the gyroshere, they also got to interview J.A. Bayona. According to director J.A. Bayona, the first part of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is to be a large set piece similar to the opening of a James Bond film. This is interesting considering fans were originally promised a more claustrophobic horror film, similar to Bayona's background and a return to form for the franchises roots with The Lost World. He says that while the second part of the film will be along those lines, the opening will be quite different. It will be a large action piece, presumably with the volcanic eruption at it's climax in what he says will be "... the biggest set-piece ever done for a Jurassic film."

While this is quite exciting for sure, it is quite the departure from what was originally promised before the trailer was released. While Bayona did confirm that the second part of the film would be more horror related, Colin Trevorrow stated that everything in the trailer, including the volcanic eruption, happens in the first 57 minutes of the film:

That's quite a bit of the film that is not horror oriented. It will take some skill to pull off a film that is a half/half mixture of James Bond and Alien. If done correctly, this unique concept could catapult this film to greatness. Is it possible sure, but this could also easily blow up in the franchises face as the movie that tried to do too much. What do you think? Is Bayona trying to bite off more than he can chew, or can this film potentially measure up to the original as one of the best Jurassic films? I guess we'll have to wait for June 2018 to find out!
